Be Anxious for Nothing

I just love this commercial.... I'm sure everyone has seen it.

I can feel her excitement, and her anxiety that someone is going to come and take it all away.

But the truth is God tells us to be anxious for nothing...... now that used to puzzle me, so I thought I would look it up.

Anxious means: to pre-occupy the mind, to cause stress

Phil 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When I read that it meant to pre-occupy my mind, a wee light bulb went on. I spend many many (shall I say) many... hours being pre-occupied with things that I have absolutely no control over, none, zip, zilch.....

Interestingly enough (well I think it is anyway)... I read a book on Saturday... "Victory over Darkness". I was able to grasp what he was saying.

One of the key things that hit home was;
Anger is a sign post for blocked goals.... goals that may be good goals but not God goals... goals that others can interfere in... goals to be a good wife and mother, instead of a godly wife and mother. Big difference I have discovered, husband and children can interfere with my goals, they may have their own agenda..... but godly goals are God's agenda, only I can interfere.

Depression is a sign post for an impossible goal.... again having a good goal instead of a godly goal....a good goal of having a person change for the better.... that is impossible because that is completely out of my control, not up to me....

I need to find God's instructions on being a godly wife and mother....
I need to find God's instructions on being a godly person....
I can succeed if those are my goals, there are outlines for those......I can achieve those....(well at least I have a direction, and a better chance of success)

I have forgotten how interesting those verses are, and how they made me think..... the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I know I definitely need my heart and mind guarded.
